The series, a coming-of-age drama, was based on Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey's book of the same name, which was first originally adapted in Set during the late s, the series revolved around the family and friends of Sue Knight and Debbie Vickers, two inseparable teens growing up in Sydney's Sutherland Shire. Fans of Puberty Blues will remember Sue and Debbie's attempts to join the popular crew, as well as dealing with the laidback attitudes of the Sutherland surfers, whose carefree attitudes toward sex, drugs and alcohol often ended them up in trouble.

Finally, both seasons of the series has landed on Netflix Australia , and in honour of the classic Aussie drama's return we're taking a look back at where some of its most memorable cast are now. The premiere episode debuted to , viewers and came 9th for the night in its timeslot. On 23 October , the official Puberty Blues Facebook page confirmed that there would be a second series of the show premiering in on the Australian television network; Channel Ten.

Filming for the second series began in May , and began broadcasting in March Network Ten released the first episode exclusively to Facebook users who liked the official Puberty Blues page prior to the premiere.

Melinda Houston of the Sydney Morning Herald gave the series a mixed review, saying "That combination of anticipation and ennui is something this version of Puberty Blues has captured beautifully. Unfortunately, it doesn't always make for gripping telly, especially prime-time commercial telly.

We, too, tend to sit there waiting, waiting, fidgeting, waiting - and suffocating just a bit. However, the critic added that Puberty Blues is not "a failure by any means. It's certainly a handsome piece, from the opening credits to the pitch-perfect interiors.
